My Purpose

I am a Christian. This means that I have a relationship with God. My relationship with Him comes through Jesus. This is, Jesus saved me through faith. Now God, in grace, accepts me. God does this for every one who calls on Him! I’m also a wife, a mother, and an activist. Thus I count myself as an advocate for all people. But because the unborn aren’t protected by the law, my special focus for this website is anti-abortion, prolife advocacy. When circumstances warrant it, I speak up for certain persons in need.

Becoming Pro-Life

How did I become passionately prolife? How did I become focused on the unborn? I had grown up in a home that didn’t respect the lives of babies pre-birth. When abortion became “legal” in 1973, I remember reading an article about a pregnant woman in crisis. She had no support. She was pregnant and scared. She used a coat hanger to perform her own abortion. I felt sorry for her, not realizing that an innocent, tiny human being was killed. This girl obviously was ignorant of any alternatives to abortion. It was only when I began to take God seriously that I became prolife. I may be said to have my own prolife story. In 1959, a 16-year-old girl learned that she was newly pregnant.

More About This

She had hoped that this would strengthen her relationship with her boyfriend. Quite the opposite happened. When her boyfriend learned that she became pregnant, he kicked the girl in her stomach. Abortion being illegal then, the boy apparently wanted to do one himself. The girl’s pregnancy continued. She describes her labor and delivery as a “nightmare.” The baby was deprived of oxygen. She was born a breech. Back then, there were no pregnancy resource centers. There were no abortion alternatives that could have eased this girl’s burden. There were no pregnancy resource centers that could have helped the boyfriend take responsibility for the baby he fathered. The girl is my mom, the boyfriend is my biological dad (now deceased) and the child is me.

How It All Affected Me Today

As a result of all this, I grew up with developmental delays. I grew up with a variety of problems which earned me labels like emotionally disturbed, withdrawn, unsocial, mild cerebral palsy, epileptic (last seizures 15 years ago, thank God), behaviorally disordered, and more. I was viciously bullied and grew up with deeply ingrained feelings of confusion, frustration and resentments. I was plagued with shame, feelings of worthlessness, and identity confusion. Most of my life and even now, I still feel the sting of these feelings regularly. That is thanks to the autism spectrum disorders and my belief that I may have grown up un-diagnosed, as the diagnosis was not around when I was growing up. Today, I seek to redeem my past by being a voice for the voiceless. I believe that it is God Who redeems our lives through His Son. When I grew up, special education services were not as aware and updated as they are today. Teachers and professionals worked from weakness, not our strengths.

Today, thankfully, teachers and other professionals work with children from strengths to control or correct their weaknesses.

School Photo of Me At Age 8

It was the birth of my precious daughter who changed my life. Because she wasn’t doing everything on schedule, she eventually was diagnosed with autism of the so-called high-functioning variety. She was mainstreamed from the beginning. While she has always held her own academically, she struggles socially. She takes after me there: I have always struggled socially. While children and teens can get an autism diagnosis easily, it’s tough for adults to access such a diagnosis. I went through a long search to access a diagnosis. The diagnosis didn’t make much difference for me. I know that only an identity in Christ can give us peace. By an identity in Christ I mean this: If you’re saved you become a child of God. You become holy and much-loved in His eyes because when God sees you He sees Jesus. That’s because Jesus took our sins so we can get His righteousness. Praise Him!

Photo of My Daughter & Myself

So how did I get to becoming passionate about the sanctity of human life? As I mentioned earlier, when God become central to me, I knew that He’s the Creator of all of us. And He has made all of us in His image. The Bible makes it clear that He sees us as human before we’re born. Last year, I read Rev. Frank Pavone’s Abolishing Abortion to review for my most established blogspot. As I read this book, I guess God ignited a passion in me to do all I can to help abolish abortion. Just voting prolife every four years wasn’t enough. Just opposing abortion as wrong wasn’t enough. Just hearing a yearly Sanctity of Life sermon wasn’t enough. Supporting a local pregnancy resource center wasn’t enough. Many Christians limit themselves to these. However, we have a holocaust in the U.S.! and as long as we have a holocaust in our midst, we should do all we can to stop it!
